The Hudson River Chime is precision-tuned to the scale used in Pete Seeger's
1961 song, "My Dirty Stream (The Hudson River Song)". This song uses a beautiful
5-note pentatonic scale, which is ideal for a windchime due to its strong
harmonies when the notes are played together. The wood parts of this chime are
made of bamboo, a sustainable resource that grows much faster than conventional
hardwoods.
The Woodstock Charitable Chimes™ Program was established to
offer the wonderful sound of Woodstock Chimes with an equally wonderful bonus -
a giveback feature. A portion of the sale of every Woodstock Charitable Chime is
given to a deserving cause. In the case of the Hudson River Chime, sales will
benefit The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater™, supporting its mission to protect
the Hudson River and create the next generation of environmental leaders.
Suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
Maintenance: Every part of a
Woodstock Chime is weather protected. Over time, however, those layers of
protection can begin to wear. To enjoy your Woodstock Chimes for years to come,
we suggest the following simple maintenance tips --
Periodically, apply
a thin layer of Danish or lemon oil with a clean cloth to the hardwood parts.
Regular oiling will help protect the wood and retard the natural aging process.
Woodstock Chimes tubes are made of anodized aluminum that will not rust
when exposed to the elements. However, over time, the aluminum may show pitting
as a result of environmental factors. Please note this will not affect the
beautiful tones of your chimes. If necessary, use mild soap and water (or a
foaming, non-abrasive cleanser) to clean the tubes. You can also use very fine
#00 steel wool to polish and restore your aluminum tubes.
