Field tests have shown that purple martins will almost always choose the 11÷ Natureline Plastic Gourd over any smaller natural or plastic gourds. Many satisfied purple martin landlords have indicated that purple martins, if given a choice, will choose the Natureline Plastic Gourd over nearby wooden or metal houses with smaller nesting compartments. Reports also indicate that there are larger numbers of eggs laid in large diameter gourds and that more nestlings survive to fledge from large nest cavities than from small nest cavities.

Natureline Plastic Gourds are 11÷ in diameter, 13÷ high and weigh approximately 24 ounces (empty). They are molded of reprocessed polypropylene that has been UV inhibited for long life outdoors and pigmented for light control.
